Everything we know about Halo Infinite’s Winter Contingency event
Now that the Halo Infinite multiplayer experience is finally here, many fans are looking forward to the free in-game events that the developers are planning to hold periodically throughout its first season. Like the Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai event, these events will offer players a chance to earn several themed rewards while they’re active and may even feature a unique gameplay experience as well.
One of these events is titled Winter Contingency, and while we officially don’t know too much about the event yet, there have been several leaks about it that reveal much of what players can expect. Here’s everything we know about Halo Infinite’s Winter Contingency event, including its start date, rewards list, and more.

Like Halo Infinite’s standard weekly resets, we expect that when the Winter Contingency event goes live, it will release at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET. This will likely also be the time that the event goes offline once it concludes, so keep that in mind if you’re planning some last-minute event grinding.

Players can expect a variety of holiday-themed rewards, including armor coatings that prominently feature festive colors such as white, peppermint red and pink, light green, and more. We also expect to see new player emblems, weapon charms, and other cosmetics as well — including items available exclusively on Halo Infinite’s microtransactions shop.
Something worth noting is that while Winter Contingency will be similar to Halo Infinite’s Fracture events, the developers have stated that the event “is not the same scope/magnitude” as them. This means that players shouldn’t expect as many rewards, and that there may not be any new playable content in the event either.
Will Halo Infinite Winter Contingency have new content?

However, it’s also possible that Winter Contingency will have some form of new content to enjoy, such as snowy versions of Halo Infinite maps or maybe even a snowball fight playlist (that would be a cool way to repurpose Halo Infinite’s fusion coil throwing mechanic). Ultimately, only time will tell.
Halo Infinite Winter Contingency rewards list
Source: @leaks_infinite on Twitter This leak suggests that this Rudolph accessory and Santa hat will be available during the Winter Contingency event.
However, 343 Industries’ Brian “Ske7ch” Jarrard confirmed that the leak was at least partially inaccurate, implying that there will be more rewards available. These likely include the Rudolph accessory and Santa hat shown above. Note that there will also likely be some cosmetic items exclusive to Halo Infinite’s microtransactions store, meaning that players may need to spend real money if they want to get everything available during the Winter Contingency event. The rest of the event’s unlocks will likely be unlocked by progressing through a special event Battle Pass that’s separate from the standard Halo Infinite Battle Pass.
Based on the above leaks, here’s a rough list of the rewards that will be available during the Halo Infinite Winter Contingency event. Note that these leaks may be proven completely inaccurate, meaning that we can’t confirm whether these rewards will actually be in the game until 343 Industries reveals more about the event.
