Dell announces updated XPS 15 and a new larger XPS 17 laptops

Dell has launched two new models in its premium XPS lineup. We now get an updated XPS 15 alongside a new XPS 17 model for 2020.

The XPS 15 is an update to last year’s model and now comes with Intel’s 10th generation CPUs. You have a choice between the 4 core/8 thread Core i5-10300H, 6 core/12 thread Core i7-10750H, or 8 core/16 thread Core i7-10875H and Core i9-10885H processors. The graphics have been updated to include the NVIDIA GTX 1650 Ti with 4GB VRAM.

The XPS 15 features a new design with a two-piece machined aluminum body and a new 15.6-inch 16:10 InfinityEdge display with tiny bezels all-around. There are also new up-firing speakers, dual Thunderbolt 3 connectors and an SD reader. You get a choice of either 56Wh or 86Wh batteries with a 90W or 130W USB-C charger.

The XPS 17 is a new model in the range and sees a return of the 17-inch size after nearly a 10-year hiatus in the XPS lineup. Dell claims the 17-inch model is the smallest 17-inch laptop in the world and 48% smaller than most 15-inch laptops on the market today.

The XPS 17 has the same CPU options as the XPS 15 but you get an also optionally get an NVIDIA RTX 2060 GPU instead of the 1650 Ti. The XPS 17 also has an updated cooling system featuring a vapor chamber design.

The 17-inch model comes in the same two resolution options as the XPS 15, including a choice of either a 1920×1200 panel or 3840×2400 touchscreen panel with HDR and 100% Adobe RGB coverage. The XPS 17 also gets the updated up-firing speakers and 4x Thunderbolt 3 connectors. You get a choice of either 56WH or 97Wh battery with either a 90W or 130W USB-C charger.

The XPS 15 starts at $1300 while the XPS 17 starts at $1500.
