You could soon use WhatsApp on your Galaxy tablet
A bunch of new features is in the works for WhatsApp. One feature spotted by WABetaInfo shows evidence of the highly anticipated companion mode. This feature would bring a dedicated Android tablet linking screen within the app. This feature would allow users to pair another device (like a Samsung Galaxy Tab device) and would work effectively, similar to what we currently have with the WhatsApp web.
The Companion Mode feature will allow the user to link their phone’s WhatsApp account to a different phone or Android tablet, bringing the official support for Android tablets in WhatsApp. This new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest WhatsApp beta version 2.22.21.6. Currently, you can connect your WhatsApp account to up to four devices. These devices include one smartphone, one laptop, a computer, or Facebook.
WhatsApp has released this feature to a limited number of beta testers
While using WhatsApp Web, you do not require to be connected to your phone in order to send and receive messages while using the platform on any of the connected devices. Now, the WhatsApp Android tablet linking feature, as shown in the screenshots, can be used to connect by scanning a QR code to pair with your device. Apparently, the feature isn’t live yet, but you can find this feature inside WhatsApp Settings > Linked Devices only once it is officially live. You would need an active internet connection (obviously) in order to sync your phone chats onto your Android tablet.
Once the sync is complete, you will be able to use WhatsApp on your tablet without an internet connection on your phone. Also, there is no clarity if the WhatsApp tablet linking feature will be available for iPad or not apart from Android tablets. But WABetaInfo notes that you will be able to use your iPhone to link a WhatsApp account configured on your iPhone to your Android tablet.
