You can try out the System Shock demo on GOG and Steam

Today, Nightdive Studios announced that a demo for the System Shock remake is coming to GOG and Steam. This demo is in alpha, so it’s not quite finished yet but it does allow interested players to check out a new take on this classic horror title. The demo is up now on GOG and should be available on Steam shortly.

The original System Shock was developed by Looking Glass Studios and released in 1994. It was critically praised, with the design of the game and its sequel System Shock 2 going on to inspire other first-person shooters and immersive sims like Deus Ex, BioShock and Prey (2017) from Ion Storm, 2K and Arkane Studios, respectively.

Recently, we learned that conglomerate Tencent was investing in OtherSide Entertainment, the developers of System Shock 3. The System Shock remake is not being affected by this investment since it is handled separately by Nightdive Studios.

There’s still no specific release window for the System Shock remake besides sometime in 2020. We’ll continue to provide updates on the project as more information is released.
