Sony has finally confirmed UK launch details for the Xperia 1 II (Mark 2). Sony’s much anticipated 2020 flagship will be released on Thursday 18 June and will cost £1,099 GBP. The handset will be available through carriers including O2, which will stock the Black version, and Vodafone which has dibs on a ‘Mirrored Slate’ colour version. The handset will also be available through third-party retailers including Carphone Warehouse.
We are trying to find out if Mirrored Slate is just a fancy name for the Purple or White colour variants, or whether this is indeed a new colour for the handset. Sony says Vodafone has exclusivity on the Mirrored Slate Xperia 1 II in the UK, which means if it is a new colour, it may also appear in other regions too. The Vodafone UK pre-order page is not yet live, so we’ll keep you posted when we hear more.
O2 will begin pre-orders for the Xperia 1 II this Thursday 4 June 2020. Contract pricing starts at £39.92 per month with £10 up front, on a 3-year contract. For those that pre-order, Sony will be bundling the Sony WH-1000XM3 wireless noise cancelling headphones free of charge. Another bonus is three months of TIDAL Hi-Fi free including the 360 Reality Audio experience (for new subscribers only).
