Xbox Project xCloud to support existing purchases and Xbox Game Pass

Today at X019, Microsoft detailed additions to Project xCloud like 50 new games, more supported controllers, and expansions to countries like India and Japan. However, a small little tidbit may have been overlooked.

In 2020, it seems like the Project xCloud preview is getting games you already own. Again, it’s unclear how much this is going to cost once the service launches. Additionally, Xbox Game Pass is also going to support cloud streaming, but again, it’s unclear if this is going to be part of the $10 per month fee.

We believe in the freedom to play and the freedom to choose. In 2020 we will enable gamers to stream from the cloud Xbox games that they already own or will purchase. We will also add game streaming from the cloud to Xbox Game Pass. Gamers will be free to discover, choose, and play their favorite games anywhere and everywhere.

We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more. We’re reached out to Microsoft for comment. What sort of a business model would you be interested in? Let us know.
