Xbox Insiders get chat filters to block toxic messages

Ever since Xbox Live launched all those years ago, Microsoft has worked on making it a place where toxic behavior is punished. However, there are still some instances, for example, certain phrases, that can be quite offensive to people. In order to make sure you or your children aren’t exposed to this, you can now add filters for chat.

According to a post in Xbox Wire, text filters will first debut to Xbox Insiders today.

The company plans to roll them out to everyone later this fall. In today’s update, settings pages have been added showcasing how you can customize your filtration level for different types of communications across Xbox Live. Filter levels include Friendly, Medium, Mature and Unfiltered.

The video gives you a quick overview of the feature. It seems like this is going to make a huge difference because offensive messages will be blocked. Hopefully, Microsoft will give gamers the ability to customize it further by having a list of words that they want to block.
