Windows 10 v1809 et KB4551853, quoi de neuf ?

Dans le cadre du Patch Tuesday de mai 2020, Microsoft publie la mise à jour cumulative KB4551853 pour Windows 10 v1809. Elle apporte plusieurs corrections de sécurité.

KB4551853 est proposée à l’occasion de la grande maintenance mensuelle de Microsoft. Le focus est avant tout la sécurité avec plusieurs patchs contre des différentes failles.  Elles touchent le système d’exploitation, certains de ses composants et quelques applications natives.

Microsoft met en avant des mises à jour pour améliorer la sécurité d’Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge et des produits Microsoft Office. Nous avons aussi une sécurité renforcée lors de l’utilisation de périphériques d’entrée tels qu’une souris, un clavier, un stylet ou encore de Microsoft Xbox. A cela s’ajoute des améliorations lors de la vérification des noms d’utilisateur et des mots de passe, lorsque Windows effectue des opérations de base, du stockage et de la gestion des fichiers.

Windows 10 v1809, une fin de vie repoussée en novembre 2020

Il faut noter que l’abandon de Windows 10 v1809 a été repoussé en raison de la pandémie de Coronavirus. Cette version est prise en charge encore pendant quelques mois. La démarche permet d’offrir un peu plus de temps afin de « migrer » vers une version plus récente.

“Devant la crise sanitaire mondiale et son impact sur un grand nombre de nos clients nous avons souhaité alléger certains impératifs. Nous allons retarder la date de fin de service prévue pour les éditions Home, Pro, Pro Education, Pro for Workstations et IoT Core de Windows 10, version 1809. La date est repoussée au 10 novembre 2020. […] La dernière mise à jour de sécurité pour ces éditions sera publiée le 10 novembre 2020 au lieu du 12 mai 2020.”

Improvements and fixes

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Updates the 2020 start date for daylight saving time (DST) in the Kingdom of Morocco.

  • Addresses an issue that prevents a call to NCryptGetProperty() from returning the correct pbOutput value when pszProperty is set to “Algorithm Group” and you are using a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 device.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Microsoft Xbox, Microsoft Edge, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Cryptography, Windows Authentication, Windows Kernel, Windows Linux, Windows Update Stack, Windows Core Networking, Internet Information Services, Windows Network Security and Containers, Windows Active Directory, Windows Storage and Filesystems, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

Known issues in this update

Symptom Workaround
After installing KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs installed may receive the error, “0x800f0982 – PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND.” Uninstall and reinstall any recently added language packs. For instructions, see Manage the input and display language settings in Windows 10.
Select Check for Updates and install the April 2019 Cumulative Update. For instructions, see Update Windows 10.

Note If reinstalling the language pack does not mitigate the issue, reset your PC as follows:

Go to the Settings app > Recovery.

Select Get Started under the Reset this PC recovery option.

Select Keep my Files.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
