Windows 10, la mise à jour KB4559004 débarque, quoi de neuf ?

Microsoft a publié de nouvelles mises à jour cumulatives facultatives Windows 10. KB4559004 s’adresse en particulier aux PC sous 1903 ou 1909. La dernière version du système d’exploitation, May 2020 Update n’est pas concerné par cette maintenance.

Ces différents correctifs ne sont pas liés à la sécurité. Il s’agit cependant du contenu additionnel qui sera proposé lors du prochain Patch Tuesday. Il sera présent aux cotés des différents patchs liés à la sécurité.

Il est logique que Windows 10 v1903 et 1909 se partagent la même mise à jour cumulative car ils se partagent un ensemble identique de fichiers système. Du coup la mise à jour cumulative KB4559004 vise ces deux OS.  Son installation permet au premier d’évoluer en version 18362.997 et le deuxième en version 18363.997. Ces deux numéros sont importants car ils permettent de s’assurer que l’installation s’est bien dérouler. Vous pouvez les trouver en lançant « winner.exe » dans Exécuter (WIN+R).

Windows 10 et KB4559004

KB4559004 se présente comme une importante mise à jour surtout pour les utilisateurs de Windows Hello. A l’origine de la reconnaissance faciale disponible sous Windows 10 Windows Hello permet de se passer de mot de passe.

Le processus de vérification est plus rapide et plus sécurisé car le mot de passe n’est plus exposé. Microsoft apporte des améliorations à son système afin de répondre à certains reproches. De nombreux utilisateurs se plaignent que leurs visages ne sont plus reconnus. Du coup la parade est d’utiliser le mot de passe ou un code PIN. La technologie perd alors tout son intérêt. De plus il semble que ce problème de « mauvaise » détection du visage apparait de manière aléatoire. Parfois tout fonctionne parfaitement.

Cette mise à jour cumulative apporte également des améliorations à une application « star » de Windows 10, l’explorateur de fichiers. En réalité il ne s’agit pas que d’améliorations. Nous avons un correctif afin de résoudre un souci de plantage lors de certaines manipulations. Microsoft n’entre pas trop dans les détails à ce sujet. Nous vous confirmons l’existence de ce bug car plusieurs PC de la rédaction en sont victimes.

Le second patch permet de supprimer les recherches précédentes de la zone de recherche. Cette fonction est la bienvenue.

Les problèmes de connexion à Internet à l’aide d’un modem WWAN LTE sont de leur coté normalement résolus. Tout devrait fonctionner correctement après l’installation de KB4559004.

Enfin il n’y a aucun problème connu avec cette mise à jour cumulative. Son téléchargement et son installation devrait donc fonctionner parfaitement. Elle est proposée via le service Windows Update et en téléchargement manuel sur Microsoft Update Catalog.
