Why hasn’t Samsung released Android 14 Beta update like other brands?

Earlier this year, Google released the Developer Preview version of Android 14. Since then, the company has released multiple Developer Preview updates of the newest version of Android. Two days ago, Google released the second Public Beta version of Android 14, and several Android OEMs joined Google in releasing a beta version of Android 14 for some of their phones, but Samsung is strangely missing from that list.

It may seem like Samsung is delaying the development and release of Android 14 for its Galaxy phones and tablets. However, you shouldn’t worry about it. Samsung has already started testing the Android 14-based One UI 6.0 update internally. Reports show that the company is testing Android 14 on the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and it is expected to announce the Android 14 Beta Program within the next few months.

Android 14 Beta Update OEMs List

Unlike Samsung’s One UI Beta Program, other Android OEMs offer a very stripped-down version of Android beta updates

Usually, Samsung releases beta versions of Android and One UI in the third quarter of the year. After testing several beta versions, it releases the update’s final (stable) version in the fourth quarter of the year. Most non-Google Android OEMs who offer beta versions of Android on day one release a very stripped-down version of the software, lacking most of their software customizations. For example, Nothing’s Android 14 Beta update lacks support for the Glyph interface, Nothing’s stock apps, and several other custom software features. Even the fingerprint reader doesn’t work, which means it is not a usable phone.

On the other hand, Samsung offers a near-complete update to its phones with its One UI Beta Program. So, Samsung may be a few weeks late compared to other Android OEMs in offering the Android 14 Beta update, but its updates will be feature-rich. In fact, Samsung usually adds many new software features with new beta updates. So, don’t worry if you don’t see Samsung in the list of Android OEMs offering the Android 14 Beta update on day one.
