WhatsApp’s split view interface could soon be available on Android tablets

WhatsApp is always looking for ways to improve the user experience, and their latest update for Android tablets is an apt example of that. The new update we’re referring to is a new split view interface that is apparently being tested by the Meta-owned instant messaging service for a small group of beta testers using WhatsApp on their Android tablets. Expectedly, the feature will be specifically handy for those who often juggle multiple conversations or want to multitask while using the app.

According to a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, the messaging app is adding a split view to its tablet version. The reference for the modified UI can be found in the WhatsApp beta version 2.23.5.9 for Android.

Users will be able to view multiple chat threads simultaneously on their Galaxy tablets

The split view is accessible via the calls and status tabs, which makes it easier for you to multitask within the messaging app. Unquestionably, the chat section benefits more from this feature as users could now swiftly hop between conversations without losing sight of the ongoing discussion.

Furthermore, the split view interface also makes it easier to manage or organize chats by scrolling through a list of conversations to find a specific contact or something else without having to exit the current discussion.

If you are unable to obtain this update, don’t fret. Currently, only WhatsApp Android beta users can enjoy the updated layout; however, the revamped interface may eventually be made available to the general public. According to a previous rumor, users would be able to connect an Android tablet to an existing WhatsApp account when using WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.21.6. Although it has been under development since September last year, the feature hasn’t yet been released to users, so the wait could be a long one.
