WhatsApp’s message editing feature now rolling out globally!

Despite the rise of many alternative messaging apps, such as Telegram and Signal, and an uptick in the use of RCS messaging, WhatsApp continues to be the most popular and most used messaging platform out there. It has received a slew of new features at a surprisingly fast pace over the last couple of years, and today, yet another new WhatsApp feature has begun rolling out to users worldwide.

This feature is the ability to edit messages after they’ve been sent, meaning you will no longer have to delete and resend the full message if you make a mistake or want to change something. You will be able to edit the message by long pressing it, tapping the button with the three vertical dots, and hitting the ‘Edit’ button.

Editing will only be possible for fifteen minutes after a message is sent

For those wondering, yes, the edit option will only be available for a limited time after you have sent a message. It’s fifteen minutes, to be exact, which is more or less similar to the time you get to delete a sent message for everyone in a chat. WhatsApp will also inform the receiver (both in individual and group chats) if a message has been edited.

The message editing feature has started rolling out to the public WhatsApp app this week after spending some time in beta testing. Like all new WhatsApp features, this one will not be immediately available for everyone and will gradually expand to more users in the coming weeks, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t see it on your device yet.
