WhatsApp to soon bring music and video sharing features

WhatsApp has been adding many new features over the past few months. After bringing necessary features like more effortless data transfer between Android and iOS devices and the ability to use the same WhatsApp account on multiple devices, the company is adding more features to make its instant messaging app more fun.

WhatsApp to get music and video screen-sharing features

Now, WhatsApp is testing the ability to share the screen with friends to listen to music or watch videos together. This feature was earlier spotted for iOS devices and has now been spotted testing for Android smartphones and tablets. According to WABetaInfo, who spotted this feature in the latest beta version (2.23.26.18) of WhatsApp for Android, all the users in a video call can share their screen with others so that all users in a call can listen to audio/music or watch videos together.

WhatsApp Audio Music Video Sharing Leak

While screen sharing is already available on Android, the current version of the feature only shows the video of the contents on the screen, and audio isn’t shared with others on the call. When audio sharing is enabled with or without video, there are several use cases where the new feature is useful. For example, you can show what’s on the screen, along with audio. You can also watch videos from the gallery together.

This feature is currently under testing and may be released to Android and iOS smartphones next year. It isn’t clear if watching videos together will also be possible through video streaming apps like Disney+, Netflix, and Prime Video, as they might not let users share the screen due to content protection policies.

WhatsApp has recently brought the ability to share higher-quality images and videos, higher-quality media in status updates, self-destructing video messages, and an AI-powered chatbot. However, some of these features are still in beta testing and unavailable to most users.
