Week 48 in review: Honor V30/V30 Pro and MagicWatch 2 are here

The final week of November is now done and it brought us the Honor V30 and V30 Pro alongside the MagicWatch 2 and the Huawei MatePad Pro.

The Honor V30 and V30 Pro share most of their respective specs, like the 6.57-inch IPS LCD, Kirin 990 chipet and dual front-facing cameras. But where the Pro has the upper hand is its 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera with autofocus, with the slightly brighter lens and OIS over its main 40MP camera and wireless charger. We took the Honor V30 Pro and its impressive ultrawide camera out for a spin, you can check out the samples here.

The Honor V30 and V30 Pro will go on pre-order in China on December 5 and start shipping on the 12. Sadly there’s no word on if and when they’ll make their way out of China.

The MatePad Pro tablet shares the flagship Kirin 990 chipset of the V30/V30 Pro, has a 10.8-inch screen with a punch hole camera as well as a potent 7,250mAh battery.

The Honor MagicWatch 2 brings a 42mm and 46mm version, the latter of which offers 14 days of battery life. Unlike its Android-powered counterparts, this smartwatch are already confirmed to make it to Europe, priced at €179 and €179, respectively.

Samsung’s future Galaxy S11 series have captivated the interest of our readers for weeks now, despite them being nearly three months away. This week the biggest story were the CAD renders of the Galaxy S11+ and S11e. Both show a design with very slim bezels (slimmer than the Note10+’, say rumors), and a penta (that’s Greek for five) and triple camera, respectively. Rumor has it Samsung will include laser autofocus in the Galaxy S11 smartphones, possibly replacing (or enhancing?) the current dual-pixel AF.

Samsung looks to be about to deliver Android 10 to the Galaxy S10 and Note10 series faster than projected. In fact it’s already the stable Android 10 update to the Galaxy S10 lineup in Germany. The official target for Android 10 on these devices is January 2020.

Meanwhile the Galaxy Note10 Lite is coming and it was revealed by an FCC finding that it will have a Bluetooth-capable S Pen, just like the Galaxy Note9.

Finally the Galaxy S11+ was spotted on Geekbench, flexing an Exynos 9830 with stock ARM cores, 12GB of RAM and Android 10.

Speaking of chipsets and benchmarks, the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chip hopped over to AnTuTu to obliterate its competition. Its 511k score outdid the 496k of the Snapdragon 855+ inside the Asus ROG Phone II and smashed the 456k of the A13-totting Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Realme’s X50 5G was confirmed and it will have two selfie cameras. Realme also unveiled a roadmap of which devices will get ColorOS 7 and when.
