Week 39 in review: Mi Mix Alpha, Mi 9 Pro, OnePlus 7T are here

There were two major events this week. First Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Mix Alpha with a wrap-around OLED screen, 180% screen-to-body ratio, a 108MP camera and Snapdragon 855+. It will cost CNY 19,999 when it is released in December.

In more conventional smartphone news, Xiaomi announced the Mi 9 Pro with a Snapdragon 855+ and 45W charging – it starts at CNY3,699 ($520/€473) and is China-only for now.

Wrapping up Xiaomi’s announcements of the week the Redmi 8A is here with a Snapdragon 439 chipset and 5,000mAh battery and the MIUI 11 software is now in open beta, giving eager users a chance to try out the new features.

The other big story this week was the OnePlus 7T debut. An unusually big update for a T model, the OnePlus 7T has a Snapdragon 855+, a triple camera (2x zoom, regular and ultrawide), new 6.55-inch 90Hz 1080p OLED screen, faster charging (still 30W but more efficient) and a $600 price tag. The OnePlus 7T will launch in the US on October 18.

A story broke this week that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will bring a 108MP camera and a 5x optical zoom camera.

The Realme X2 became official for China with a CNY 1,599 (~€205) price tag, Snapdragon 730G and 64MP camera.

Finally, DxOMark released its review of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, giving it the first place in their imaging ranking and praising the phone for its night photography.
