Week 22 in review: Huawei teases P50, brings HarmonyOS to 100 Android phones

Another week in the books, so let’s recap. Huawei held a major HarmonyOS event at which it unveiled new tablets, new smartwatches, gave us a list of devices to be updated to HarmonyOS and even showed a teaser of the much-awaited P50 series.

HarmonyOS is set to be available as an update from Android on Huawei’s lineup of devices, starting in China. Huawei’s latest devices like the Mate40 and P40 series can get the OS running right now, older devices will follow in Q3.

A short video teaser showcased the dual-ring design of the Huawei P50’s cameras. The P50 series promise a sleek design and to be among the first to sport a 1-inch sensor on a phone. Boy we can’t wait!

Computex 2021 kicked off, bringing a few announcements. Nvidia showed off the RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti (not that you can easily find their non-Ti counterparts anyway), while AMD announced that it will bring its RDNA 2 graphics to Exynos chipsets this year.

LG officially stopped manufacturing phones this week and transitioned to making home appliances and TVs.

Meanwhile the OnePlus Nord CE 5G leaked in detail this week. It will feature a 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED, Snapdragon 750G chip and a 4,500mAh battery with 30W charging. Camera-wise the Nord CE 5G will feature an Omnivision 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide and 2MP depth sensor. There’s a 16MP selfie camera on the opposite side. The Nord CE 5G is coming June 11.
