Week 21 in review: New Pixel 6/6 Pro details, ColorOS 11 roadmap is here

With another week in the books, let’s recap and see which we’re the biggest talking points.

Oppo released an official roadmap for its ColorOS 11 release for the Indian market. The Find X2, F17 Pro, Reno4 Pro, Reno3 Pro, Reno10x Zoom, Reno2 F, Reno2 Z, Reno2, A52, F11, F11 Pro, F11 Pro Marvels Avengers Limited Edition, A9, and F15 have started receiving the stable version of ColorOS 11 and from May 26, the Oppo A5 2020 and A9 2020 have joined the rollout too.

The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro were once again a big focus during the week. The Pixel 6 will have a 50MP main camera and an ultrawide unit, while the Pro will add an 8MP 5x zoom camera. Both phones will feature 120Hz displays, the 6’s will be of FHD+ resolution, while the Pro will upgrade to QHD+. Finally, the custom chipset for the Google Pixel 6 series, codenamed Whitechapel, will roughly perform on the level of the Snapdragon 870. Google will focus on the AI and machine learning aspect of the performance.

Redmi launched the Note 10 Pro in its home market. It has a 6nm Dimensity 1100 chipset, 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 5,000mAh battery, 6.6-inch IPS LCD of 120Hz refresh and a triple camera with a 64MP wide, 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro. Pricing starts at CNY 1,499 ($234) for the 6/128 GB model, while sales commence on June 1.

Redmi also premiered two laptops for the Chinese market. The RedmiBook Pro 14 with Ryzen 5500U/5700U 15W chipsets and the RedmiBook Pro 15 with 35W Ryzen 5 5600H and Ryzen 7 5800H chipsets. Both laptops have 16:10 aspect on their displays – the 15.6-inch RedmiBook Pro 15 has a 3200x2000px 90Hz panel, while the RedmiBook Pro’s 14 incher has a 2560x1600px and refreshes at 60Hz. Both machines will go on sale on June 1, starting at CNY 4,300 for the 14-inch and CNY 4,800 for the 15.6-inch.

Oppo unveiled the Reno6, Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+. The Reno6 packs a 6.43-inch 90Hz AMOLED, 64MP wide + 8MP ultrawide + 2MP macro cameras, 4,300mAh battery and a Dimensity 900 chipset.

The Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+ share a 4,500mAh battery, 6.55-inch 90Hz AMOLED display, but differ in cameras and chipsets. The Pro packs a Dimensity 1200, 64MP wide + 8MP ultrawide and two 2MP sensors for macro and depth, while the Pro+ has a Snapdragon 870, 50MP wide, 13MP 2x zoom, 16MP ultrawide and a single 2MP for macro.

The Reno6 starts selling on June 11 for CNY 2,799. The Reno6 Pro and Reno6 Pro+ go on sale on June 5, starting at CNY 3,499 and CNY 3,999, respectively.
