We may get PSVR support for Minecraft on the PS4 soon.

People have been clamoring for Minecraft to go ahead and support the PSVR for a long while now, especially since the game is already available for PC VR headsets and even a mobile VR headset made by Samsung. Now that the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft is on Playstation 4, there’s nothing stopping Mojang Studios from fully embracing all the features the platform has to offer, including PSVR support. In fact, support for VR may have been in testing starting all the way back in April.

According to a report by MP1ST a leaked development build that differs from the build Minecraft is currently on in the public shows support for the PSVR, and is now labeled as “PSVR Feature Complete.” The team behind it has been apparently testing PSVR support for several months now, going all the way back to April 2020.

There’s been no official confirmation that PSVR support is happening, but it only makes sense as Minecraft becomes more intimate with the Playstation 4 platform, recently enabling cross-play between various platforms using Xbox Live. Enabling PSVR support would complete Mojang Studios’ effort to embrace Sony’s gaming platform. Hopefully we’ll hear more over the next few weeks / months, but in the meantime we’ll just have to sit tight and wait.
