Samsung today announced that it’s bringing the Samsung TV Plus app to select Galaxy smartphones. It’s is a free service that has previously only been available on 2016 – 2020 Samsung smart TVs. The app is now making its way for several Galaxy smartphones. It will be available for download from the Galaxy Store and the Google Play Store.

Samsung TV Plus provides viewers with instant access to free shows that they can binge watch and fresh content from 135 channels. The service was previously available completely free for owners of select Samsung smart TV models and it’s now being expanded to the company’s smartphones.

Samsung TV Plus is coming to Galaxy smartphones

Samsung TV Plus is unlike any other streaming service in that it’s only limited to the company’s own devices and it provides them with free TV with no strings attached. Users don’t have to download anything except the app, they don’t have to put in their credit card details, purchase a subscription or an additional device to access TV Plus.

Everything is delivered through a dedicated app that has previously been available for the company’s TVs. A new app is going to be available for select Galaxy smartphones from tomorrow. Only those who own a device from the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 10 or Galaxy S10 series will be able to use the app. It’s surprising that the Galaxy Z Fold 2 isn’t on the list even though it would have been perfect for some casual TV viewing.

Don’t expect any premium cable networks on TV Plus, even though it does offer a respectable list of channels and TV shows. The 135-strong list include channels like CBS News, Bloomberg TV+, ET Live, BeINSPORTS XTRA, FOX SOUL, Science TV and more. An internet connection is required to stream the content which may also have geo restrictions for users outside the United States.
