The Hero8 was at one point replaced by the more advanced Hero9, but that camera never quite struck the same cord it seems like. It might be that the Hero9 is just outside of what people want to pay for an action camera since it runs about $100 to $150 more than the Hero8 on average. Whatever the reasoning, you benefit with big savings on an awesome device.

One of the great things about the Hero8 was that it was designed to travel with you. Obviously, in order to take great action shots you need some great action. The Hero8 has a pocketable design and folding fingers on the base for easily swapping mounts. The side door makes changing out batteries that much faster, and the lens is even more impact resistant than previous generations.

You can record video in 4K at 60fps, and you can take 12MP still photos. Since you may be using the GoPro to run around or go biking or surfing, you need some great image stabilization. The Hero8 HyperSmooth 2.0 tech has three different elvels including a boost that helps you get your video as smooth as possible. You can also easily shoot a time lapse or get burst images with LiveBurst.
