Vivo is the latest to challenge Galaxy Z Flip 4’s supremacy

Samsung has started to see some real competition against its Galaxy Z lineup of foldable smartphones. A few days ago, OPPO launched the N2 Flip to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip 4. It is reported that OPPO’s sister firm Vivo plans to bring a foldable smartphone to challenge the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Vivo’s first clamshell-style foldable smartphone is reportedly called Vivo X Flip. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X Flip has a 6.8-inch foldable OLED display, similar to the OPPO Find N2 Flip. It will have Full HD+ resolution (2,520 x 1,080 pixels), a 21:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have a hole-shaped cutout in the top-middle part for the selfie camera. Whether or not it features water resistance remains to be seen.

On the outside, the Vivo X Flip reportedly has a circular camera module with two cameras: a 50MP Sony IMX866 primary camera and a 12MP Sony IMX633 ultrawide camera. The selfie camera’s resolution is unknown at this point. The phone will reportedly have the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor (similar to Galaxy Z Flip 4), 12GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage (base model). There could be a 256GB version of the phone.

According to the report, Vivo’s first flip phone will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery capable of 44W fast wired charging. It also reportedly features a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It is still unclear if the smartphone will be launched only in China or if its availability will expand to global markets like Europe and India.
