Venture to the Fort of the Damned in a new event for Sea of Thieves

October is halfway over and to celebrate this month of spooky shenanigans, Rare has released a preview showing what players can expect from the next (and fourth) monthly update. Coming up next is the Fort of the Damned. This event is all about players hunting down Ritual Skulls and nabbing the Flames of Fate, the latter of which are rewarded on the Ferry of the Damned, with different colored flames depending on the manner in which particular pirates perish.

There’s a variety of ways to get them and once you have them, they’re a key part of gaining access to a special fight in the Fort of the Damned, which has treasure awaiting for any who brave its secrets. For a comprehensive look at everything this event has to offer (and how you can participate) you can watch the video below:

After acquiring the treasure from the creepy fort, there’s plenty of special new cosmetic items to grab from the merchants, the Black Market and the Pirate Emporium. This update is also bringing a host of bug fixes, improvements for pets and other general quality-of-life tidbits. You can also fight in the Arena with a two-man sloop and face off against other pairs of pirates.

First released back in 2018, Sea of Thieves has continually received new updates and content from Rare, the studio that develops and maintains the game. It’s also been a success story and one of the “top-performing titles” for Xbox Game Pass according to Aaron Greenberg, who manages games marketing at Xbox.
