US carrier-locked Galaxy A52 5G gets December 2022 security update

Samsung rolled out the December 2022 security patch to the Galaxy A52 5G last month. However, the update was limited to the international and US carrier-unlocked versions of the smartphone. Now, the carrier-unlocked variant of the Galaxy A52 5G for the US market (SM-A526U) is also getting the latest security update.

The latest update comes with firmware version A526USQS7DVL1 and brings the December 2022 security patch, which fixes a total of 93 security vulnerabilities. The new firmware is currently rolling out to devices that are on T-Mobile and MetroPCS. The units on other networks should also get the update within a matter of days.

Typically, Samsung’s phones keep checking for updates periodically and notify you about a new one whenever it is available. But if your Galaxy A52 5G hasn’t notified you about the December 2022 security update yet, you can check for it manually by going to Settings » Software update and clicking Download and install.

The Galaxy A52 5G was recently updated to Android 13 (One UI 5.0). The phone was launched with Android 11 (One UI 3.1) onboard, and it is supposed to get three OS upgrades. That means the Galaxy A52 5G will get Android 14 when it arrives later this year. It will also keep getting security updates till 2026.
