Unlocked Galaxy S21 series in US starts getting September security patch

The September 2021 security patch is reaching more Galaxy S21 variants around the world. It wasn’t long ago when the update debuted for the Galaxy S21 series in Europe, and now, the September 2021 security patch is hitting the airwaves for the unlocked models in the USA.

Galaxy S21 owners in the USA can identify the new update by firmware version G99xU1UES4AUH9. The firmware number indicates this should be a regular security patch with no new additions or improvements to One UI. But if you’re eager for new features, stay tuned for the One UI 4.0 beta program. It was confirmed to arrive for the unlocked Galaxy S21 series in the USA “soon,” and it will also be released for S21 variants offered by Sprint and T-Mobile.

As for the September security patch, it is now rolling out over the air to unlocked Galaxy S21 owners in the USA and can be acquired from the Settings app on your phone by navigating to Software updates and tapping Download and install.

If you want to skip the wait and take matters into your own hands, you can head over to our firmware database, download the new firmware update for your specific Galaxy S21 model, and install it manually using a Windows PC.
