Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine, its upcoming player-versus-environment (PvE) entry in the tactical shooter series, is now titled Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction. The company confirmed the rebrand with its new teaser trailer ahead of its Ubisoft Forward E3 2021 show, where the publisher is expected to debut its first gameplay for the project.

Ubisoft first unveiled the title at E3 2019, pitching a new cooperative experience, translating the fundamentals of Rainbow Six Siege to a PvE experience. The title suffered multiple public-facing delays, later slipping into 2021 as the pandemic forced the studio into a work-from-home setting. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ubisoft also dropped the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Quarantine branding, settling on the internal “Parasite” codename in the latter months of development.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is expected to retain themes from its reveal trailer, expanding on events first outlined through its limited-time Outbreak mode for Rainbow Six Siege from 2018. When an alien parasite sweeps the U.S., players are dispatched to contain the infected forms, completing missions across the nation. The game will reportedly share core gameplay mechanics with its competitive predecessor, leaning on the same tactical, team-based gameplay.

Extensive leaks have spotlighted alleged details on what’s likely ahead of Rainbow Six Extraction, taking shape as a cooperative experience, heavily inspired by Rainbow Six Siege. Many of the same playable Operators and gadgets make their way to Extraction, taking form across multiple game modes and levels, with various classes of infected. The game is also expected to promote long-term play, with a seasonal structure to post-launch content, and a complete progression system separated from Siege.

Ubisoft is yet to talk availability for Rainbow Six Extraction, although we’re hearing late 2021 availability, among Ubisoft’s biggest projects planned for this calendar year.
