Ubisoft implementing work from home policies amid coronavirus concerns

Ubisoft, the publisher behind titles like Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2, has announced that it has begun to implement work from home policies for its staff in response to the recent spread of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Ubisoft is one of many other studios to initiate this change, joining the likes of Rockstar Games and Bungie in the effort to prevent the virus from spreading to gaming industry workers.

According to the statement given by Ubisoft, its teams are “doing their best to make sure that our online games, services, and support continue functioning with minimal disruption, despite the challenging circumstances.” It’s likely that we can expect Ubisoft’s games and services to continue as normal (albeit with some small hiccups here and there) unless something more drastic happens in the future.

It’s great to see that developers and publishers like Ubisoft are quickly and efficiently reacting to the outbreak. Ubisoft’s Chief Executive Officer, Yves Guillemot, even sent out a heartwarming and reassuring letter out to Ubisoft’s entire staff about the issue as reportred by Kotaku.

Hopefully more gaming industry studios follow along in Ubisoft’s footsteps in the coming weeks and months until the global community can get a handle on the coronavirus.
