TicWatch Pro X launches in China with almost no updates

Mobvoi has launched a new TicWatch Pro X in China, in an extraordinarily minor update to its flagship smartwatch line.

We’ve been speculating about the launch of a TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra in the West – alongside potential new GTH+ and GTH Pro devices, but this seems altogether different.

The TicWatch Pro X runs the same tech under the hood, with a Snapdragon 4100 processor and a 1.39-inch dual layer display that enables it to keep the three days of battery life and up to 45 days in just Essential mode.

But there’s a new etched bezel that adds a subtle hint of design, which differentiates it from the standard TicWatch Pro 3.

And there are two crowns, which will rotate to control on-screen menus and navigation.

Of course, Wear OS is on board here – but it’s still the older Wear 2.0. We do expect this to get the upgrade in 2022 with the Pro 3 and E3.

There are 20 sports modes, and it’s IP68 rated, so it can withstand time in the pool.

The Pro X is so similar to the Pro 3 we really have no idea why this has been released. It’s possible it’s just a rebranding exercise in China, and we’re hoping to see the much more interesting TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra before long.

That heralded a bunch of new Tic apps, including a new set of features on arterial health and body age – and an ECG feature, which can check for afib using the PPG sensor. If those features do see the light of day, then Mobvoi’s next round of smartwatches will be far more interesting.
