TicWatch Pro 3 will track your blood oxygen and keep you calm

Mobvoi has officially announced the arrival of the TicWatch Pro 3 and becomes one of the first smartwatches to pack Qualcomm’s latest Wear 4100 processor along with a host of new health and fitness features.

The third instalment in the TicWatch Pro range retains that classic watch styling and now includes an improved version of Mobvoi’s dual layer display that should now give you a bigger battery boost.

It comes hot on the heels of the TicWatch GTX, the company’s new ultra-cheap smartwatch that costs just $55.

Design-wise, you can expect a larger 47mm case compared to the 45mm TicWatch Pro and the Pro 2020.

It’s also thinner than its predecessor, measuring in at 12.2mm thick. The case is built from stainless steel and plastic and paired up with a 22mm interchangeable silicone band that should make it fit for working out.

The headline news is the inclusion of that new Wear 4100 processor, which Qualcomm announced back in June, and offers a mega 85% performance and speed boost.

It’s also built to use less power to help improve battery performance by 25%. That new processor is also paired up with 8GB of storage and 1GB of RAM.

The new performance hardware isn’t the only thing that’s new on the Pro 3. While it still runs on Google’s Wear OS to give you everything you get on the Pro 2020, Mobvoi has added more of its own software alternatives to Google’s.

Building on the Tic apps already available, it’s added TicOxygen, which takes advantage of the new onboard SpO2 sensor – just as we’ve seen on the Apple Watch Series 6 and Fitbit Sense.

TicZen is a stress monitoring app that feeds into the TicBreathe app where you can access guided breathing exercises.

Last up is TicHearing, which measures environmental noise to make sure your ears are not exposed to unsafe levels of noise.

It’s also upgrading its TicPulse app to offer more heart rate-based advice and the TicSleep sleep app now works in Mobvoi’s Essential Mode that will now measure blood oxygen during the night.

To beef up its fitness credentials, you can track 10 different workouts and it still uses TicMotion to automatically detect when you’re doing certain activities.

There’s a new barometer to measure altitude during outdoor activities and the built-in GPS is joined by Beidou, Galileo, Glonass and QZSS satellite systems. It’s still been slapped with an IP68 rating making it fit for swimming.

In terms of battery life, Mobvoi has included a bigger 577mAh battery, up from the 415mAh one included in the previous Pro. That should deliver 72 hours (3 days) in smart mode and up to 45 days in its Essential Mode.

The Pro 3 is available to buy now priced at £289.99.

The Pro 2020 cost £229.99, which means that’s a bit of a jump in price. Granted though, there’s certainly a lot more going on with this instalment than the last Pro.

We’re wearing the TicWatch Pro 3 now, so keep an eye out for our full review in the coming weeks.
