This $230 Black Friday iPad deal kills any reason to buy a Windows tablet
No matter how you may feel about Windows 10, there’s no denying that the iPad is still the king of tablets. That’s even more true when you consider the epic $230 iPad sale that’s running during Black Friday, which kills any reason whatsoever of even considering a Windows tablet during the holiday shopping season.
Its biggest problem is that it’s very obviously a desktop experience that has been poorly optimized for tablets. It still has a taskbar that’s only there so that you can go back to Start, any animation it does have are just fade effects with no real flair to them, and many of the apps, such as Edge, aren’t really optimized for tablets at all.
On the other side of the fence, Apple perfected the tablet experience with every iteration of iOS. Animations are smooth, navigation is well thought out, and the performance is excellent with Apple’s A10 Fusion chip. Plus, the App Store gives you access to tons of tablet-optimized apps that you just won’t find on Windows 10.

Look, we love Microsoft’s Surface line and 2-in-1 PCs, but those are primarily built for the PC experience. If you want to grab a tablet that you can just kick back and relax with this holiday season, $249 for the 10.2-inch iPad is a no-brainer. Besides, you can add plenty of Microsoft flavor with the company’s oodles of iPad apps.
