The Samsung Galaxy foldable everyone actually buys could get a battery upgrade

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip line of foldables could be getting a much awaited battery upgrade this year, according to our friends over at GalaxyClub. The first Galaxy Z Flip didn’t exactly have the best hardware, but that was something Samsung fixed nicely with its successor, the Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Sadly, the lowly battery capacity — a mere 3,300 mAh — was one thing Samsung wasn’t able to fix, but it seems like the company might finally be doing something about it. Information on the two batteries (Samsung’s foldables split the battery into two units) that will likely power the Galaxy Z Flip 4 has surfaced online, and it looks like one of them will have slightly higher capacity.

100 mAh, to be precise, which coincidentally matches the reduction in battery capacity Samsung made between the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Fold 3. It’s not a huge upgrade, but considering how components inside Samsung’s clamshell foldables already fight for space, it’s good to see the Korean giant isn’t just sticking to the same battery size once again.

However, it remains to be seen if Samsung will be introducing an upgrade to 25W fast charging. A 3,300 mAh battery might seem small, but the 15W charging that Samsung uses on the existing Galaxy Z Flip devices is still considerably slow. Middling battery life and not-so-fast charging are not a good combination, so we have our fingers crossed 25W charging will finally come to the Galaxy Z Flip series this year.
