The Samsung Galaxy A52s may not be getting a telephoto camera after all

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G will bring a more powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 778G (we have Geekbench results as proof). This is quite a step up from the Snapdragon 750G in the A52 5G and the 720G in the vanilla A52. Despite hopes of additional changes, however, this may be the only upgrade on the “s” model.

The A52s will have the same 64 + 12 + 5 + 5 MP setup as its two siblings, say sources talking to GalaxyClub. Previously, there was talk that the “s” model will adopt a camera setup similar to the Galaxy A72, which has a 3x telephoto lens.

That is not happening, it seems. Nor are any other upgrades. The selfie camera will reportedly remain the same with a 32 MP sensor. Battery capacity isn’t changing either, remaining at 4,500 mAh. In short, this will be Galaxy A52 5G with the chipset swapped out (admittedly, trading a 6 nm chip for an 8 nm one is great, not to mention that Adreno 642L GPU promises a major performance boost).

The rumored price of the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G with 128 GB storage is €450 (which converts to $535 or INR 39,500). This is how much the A52 5G costs in Europe at the moment, so that one will either get a price cut or it will get discontinued.

PS. We’re currently in the process of reviewing the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G, so expect an in-depth look at Samsung’s 5G mid-ranger soon.
