CD Projekt is one of the largest game companies out there and has a lot in store for their two major franchises in 2021. The company just revealed its update roadmap for 2021, giving people some insight into what’s planned for Cyberpunk 2077 and the Witcher. Here’s what you can expect for CDPR’s two big franchises in 2021:
Firstly, CDPR is planning a host of updates for Cyberpunk 2077 throughout 2021. Cyberpunk 2077 is a brand-new IP from CDPR that explores a gorgeous dystopian world, but launched with enough issues and bugs to make it unplayable for many people. In 2021, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive multiple patches and updates, free content updates in the form of DLC, and a next-gen patch to optimize Cyberpunk 2077 for consoles like the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5.
In case you missed it, Cyberpunk 2077 just released the massive 1.2 patch update with a ton of bug fixes and improvements.
Next, there’s the Witcher franchise. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is easily one of the best Xbox games of all time, and set the bar for an entire generation of gaming. In 2021, the Witcher 3 still isn’t done, and will launch a free next-gen update for Xbox Series X|S and PS5. On top of that, the Witcher franchise is expanding onto mobile devices with the Witcher: Monster Slayer, which will continue to launch in 2021. Finally, CDPR is continuing development on GWENT.
It’s great to see CDPR lay out a battle plan for the remainder of 2021, and to see them commit to supporting next-gen consoles (even with the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from 2015). Hopefully, 2021 will also be the year that Cyberpunk 2077 feels completely “finished” and stable on all platforms, including base consoles like the Xbox One and PS4. This update roadmap means that CDPR is continuing to focus on these two franchises for the foreseeable future, as expected.
However, there are no signs in this roadmap for when players can expect the Witcher 4 to make an appearance, or even if the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games of all time is in development.
