Diablo 2: Resurrected isn’t a replacement for the still-distant Diablo 4, but for many players is just as (if not more) exciting. Diablo 2 is being remastered with all-new 3D visuals and support for up to 4K resolutions, features cross-save progression across PC and consoles, and so much more. Today, Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the times for the first Diablo 2: Resurrected Technical Alpha test. For a limited time this weekend, hardcore Diablo fans will be able to experience Diablo 2: Resurrected. Here’s what you need to know.

The first Diablo 2: Resurrected single-player Technical Alpha test runs from Friday, April 9, 2021, at 7:00 a.m. PT to Monday, April 12, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. PT on PC.

During the (first of many) Technical Alpha, players will be able to play as three different classes, including the Amazon, Sorceress, and Barbarian. The full first two Acts will be unlocked during this initial test, each capped off with a brutal boss fight. Even better, there won’t be any level cap either, so players are free to grind and level up as much as they want during the Technical Alpha.

There are some things to keep in mind about the first Diablo 2: Resurrected Technical Alpha:

  • The first Technical Alpha for Diablo 2: Resurrected is PC-only. Future tests will include console players
  • Diablo 2 save files cannot be transferred into the Technical Alpha
  • Progression during the Technical Alpha will not be transferrable to the full game
  • The original Diablo 2 cinematics are still being used as a placeholder
  • There is controller support on PC, but it is still in early development
  • The first Technical Alpha is only single-player and will not feature multiplayer
  • Players can record and share screenshots and videos as much as they want

In case you haven’t already, there’s still time to sign up for the Diablo 2: Resurrected Technical Alpha test, although you’re not guaranteed to get it even if you do sign up.

Diablo 2: Resurrected is expected to launch sometime in 2021 for PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. While there’s still a good wait before we can get our hands on the full game, Diablo 2: Resurrected as a chance to become one of the best games on Xbox and best games on PC.
