The Black Friday SSD deals to grab right now

Big shopping events like Black Friday are a golden time to add more storage to your desktop or laptop PC by grabbing a discounted SSD. SSDs have come down in price in recent years but the cost can certainly mount if you need a lot.

All modern PCs can benefit from good SSD storage, and older machines might find a new lease of life by upgrading from an old, slow HDD.

Best of all, many Black Friday deals have started going live extremely early, turning November in a sort of Black Friday month. That means you don’t actually need to hold out for the big day and can start getting what you need much sooner.

Before you click buy though make sure you know exactly what type of SSD you need for your machine. While NVMe drives are super-fast in PCs that support PCIe storage, they’re more expensive than SATA drives. If your PC doesn’t support the rated performance you’ll be spending more than you need to.

With that said, this is the best of the bunch this Black Friday.

The 980 Pro from Samsung is simply ridiculous. It offers data transfer speeds of up to 6,900 MB/s, so long as you have a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard and processor. If you want to go fast, look no further than this discounted NVMe SSD.

If you’re hunting for a boot SSD for a budget PC build then you might be shocked at how little you need to spend. 240GB is plenty to run a Windows 10 install from with even your favorite software installed alongside, and at this price this SATA III SSD from PNY is too good to pass up.

Not all SSDs need to go inside the computer and Samsung’s portable T7 is about the best external drive you can get right now. Genuinely pocket sized and with a USB 3.2 connection it’s also as fast to transfer as you’ll find on an external SSD right now. Any chance to get one of these with some savings is a chance worth taking.

PCIe 4.0 SSDs are still only relevant to Ryzen-based PCs but considering Ryzen is the best platform to build a new rig on, you’d be foolish not to take advantage.
