The Dell XPS 17 is likely the least common XPS model out there, with the XPS 15 and XPS 13 hogging most of the spotlight. That’s where we’ve seen many of the best Black Friday Dell deals so far, but the XPS 17 has also seen a few configurations on sale. If you’re in search of a 17-inch laptop that feels like a 15-incher, keep reading.

The XPS 17 is a creator’s laptop through and through, delivering octa-core CPU performance, dedicated NVIDIA GPU, 17-inch display, and tons of high-end features to help justify the price. With the performance on tap, the XPS 17 should appeal to anyone who wants to accomplish heavy productivity work, engineering, music mixing, photography, or just about anything else. It can even be used for gaming, though I’d suggest checking out the best Black Friday gaming laptop deals for something designed from the start for fun.

With a price tag that’s considerably more than the smaller XPS laptops, any deal you can find is welcome. Dell is currently offering $350 off on a model with 11th Gen Intel Core i7-11800H CPU, NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU, 16GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM, and 512GB M.2 PCIe SSD.

$1,750 at Dell

Executive Editor Daniel Rubino awarded a Windows Central Best Award in his XPS 17 (9710) review, noting particularly how much of a joy the laptop is to use thanks to the enormous display, comfortable keyboard, sizable touchpad, and powerful quad speakers that flank the keys.

Yes, the 17-inch display with FHD+ resolution, 500 nits brightness, Dolby Vision, 100% sRGB color, and anti-glare finish is outstanding. Its 16:10 aspect ratio eliminates most of the chin below the screen, meaning there’s pretty much no bezel at all. This helps keep the overall size of the laptop closer to a standard 15-inch device, weighing in at 4.65 pounds (2.51kg) and measuring just 0.77 inches thin. It’s built from aluminum for a truly sturdy feel.

Performance is also outstanding thanks to the octa-core 11th Gen Intel Core CPU and NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop GPU. And even with all that power — enough that you’re bordering on workstation territory — the battery should last between six and eight hours on a charge. You can see above how the XPS 17 fares against other laptops we’ve reviewed.

Extra features like an IR camera for facial recognition, four Thunderbolt 4 ports, SD card reader, and Wi-Fi 6 are just there to make your life easier. If you need a powerful laptop with an oversized 17-inch display but don’t want to carry around something bulky and oversized, the XPS 17 is certainly a top option.
