T-Mobile will buy these Galaxy phones for you just for switching networks

T-Mobile announced a new limited-time campaign today, wherein it’s willing to pay off the Samsung smartphone you bought from another carrier if you decide to switch networks. T-Mobile will cover your current device payment plan with a virtual prepaid card worth up to $1,000 if you switch networks, and the offer is available for up to 5 lines.

Eligible Samsung devices include the Galaxy S8, S9, S10, and Galaxy S20 series. In addition, the offer applies to the Galaxy Note 8, Note 9, and Note 10 series. T-Mobile is trying to poach customers from seven US carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, Spectrum, Xfinity, US Cellular, Claro, and Boost Mobile.

You may or may not have to pay off your phone in advance

Depending on which network you’ll buy your way out of, T-Mobile may or may not require you to pay off your device before you submit for a rebate and sign up for your new T-Mobile ID.

If you’re switching from Verizon or US Cellular, T-Mobile is willing to pay off your current balance before you bring your Samsung phone to its network. If you’re switching from one of the other five carriers, you’ll be able to submit for a rebate and sign up with T-Mobile after you pay off your device and send a screenshot of your device payment plan balance.
