Surviving the Aftermath ‘Great Minds’ update adds leaders and more

Surviving the Aftermath is the next game in Paradox Interactive’s “Surviving” brand and will launch in late 2020 on Steam, the Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. If you’re unsure about the title, it’s available through the Epic Games Store Early Access and Xbox Game Preview right now. You can purchase it for $20, which appears to be a discounted price until the title launches later this year.

From what Windows Central was told, Surviving the Aftermath is set in a post-apocalyptic world after an asteroid impact, much like Rage 2. In a press release Windows Central received, the next update, titled “Update 4: Great Minds,” adds leaders to other societies. Apparently, this is the first step in adding diplomacy and expanding trade. You can read about the major features below.

Society improvements

Societies on the world map now have leaders that players will meet when interacting with other colonies. Currently, there are 10 different leaders, each with their own unique personalities and backgrounds.

Technology tree

The technology tree has been rebuilt from scratch and now features five main research lines, with alternative routes and optional sub-branches.


The colony view has received a massive visual overhaul. This includes an updated post-processing effects, visual fidelity upgrades, height variation added to full grown trees, and more.
