Starfield composer talks about building the next Bethesda game soundtrack

Bethesda Game Studios is continuing to drop tiny bits of information about the worldbuilding and themes of its upcoming game, delving into its music with the latest drop.

In a new video, composer Inon Zur talks with Bethesda Game Studios audio director Mark Lampert about building the music of Starfield. The pair discuss how Zur is changing the instruments and themes used in the game, and how Bethesda wants non-scripted moments in the game to still feel powerful due to mixing discovery with the appropriate music.You can listen to the full discussion via the video below:

“There’s always this drive to go back home, and that’s what feels so complete for us, we want to complete the mission,” Zur says, discussing the structure of the game’s score. “We will find something, we will discover something, we’ll take it with us and we will go back home with it.”

Bethesda is continuing to share tiny snippets of information at a time, having recently talked about Vasco, the player’s robot companion in the game. Starfield is currently scheduled to arrive on Nov. 11, 2022. The game is coming exclusively to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
