Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be upgraded for next-gen this summer

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a marvelous breath of fresh air for Star Wars fans, as it actually delivered on its promises and solidified its place as one of the best Star Wars games ever made. While Jedi: Fallen Order is undoubtedly a fantastic game for RPG and Star Wars fans alike, it can also occasionally suffer from minor performance issues or dropped resolutions on consoles like Xbox One and PS4. The arrival of the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PS5 helped this greatly, but Respawn is taking their game to a whole new level with the announcement of a free next-gen upgrade for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order coming this summer.

Announced as part of Star Wars’ upcoming Star Wars Day celebrations (“May the 4th be with you”), Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will finally join the growing roster of excellent next-gen games with a free cross-generational upgrade. That means Xbox One and PS4 players will be able to grab the Jedi: Fallen Order upgrade for free whenever they nab a next-gen console and always play the best possible version of the game.

The announcement didn’t include exactly what the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order upgrade would entail other than a “number of technical improvements.” Hopefully, the game will benefit from further improved loading speeds (already improved just by being on next-gen consoles), better and more stable performance, and greater visual fidelity.

For those with keen memories, you may remember that Respawn has actually already patched Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 to improve the performance and resolution. While that update was a welcome improvement, this should be a more complete and total next-gen upgrade rather than a simple patch, allowing Jedi: Fallen Order to earn the vaunted “Xbox Series X|S Optimized” tag it has been missing.

If you haven’t tried Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order yet, it’s a fantastic game that combines RPG, Metroidvania, and Souls-like elements into one package, and has you explore several planets to power up your young Jedi into a powerful warrior. It’s currently available on Xbox Game Pass with EA Play, as well, making it even easier to experience the game for the first time. It’s an unmissable experience for Star Wars fans, and is certainly one of the best Xbox games.
