Stable One UI 5 update to drop on Monday for European S22 models

Galaxy users out there might remember Samsung’s promise to bring One UI 5 and Android 13 to the S22 line in October. The Korean giant seems to be honoring said promise, with reports already coming in of S22 Ultra units in Italy receiving the coveted OTA.

The package in question has an S908BXXU2BVJA firmware version, weighs in at 2854.03 MB and includes the latest October 2022 security patches. That’s just the icing on the proverbial cake, though, since, as you can imagine, the changelog for this particular update is extremely long. You can check it out in more detail in the screenshots or at the source link. The key features are:

  • New icons
  • New call pop-up and new notification layout
  • New management for device customization (lock screen, wallpapers, new layout for widgets)
  • Productivity optimization (improved multitasking, a new possibility of extracting and scanning a text, optimized Samsung Dex and Samsung Notes, Connected Devices)
  • Optimized routine mode
  • New Sleep mode
  • Privacy and security optimization

Now for the even better news – we are expecting the stable One UI 5 and Android 13 update for the S22 family of devices to start seeding in Europe on Monday, October 24. That is just a few hours away and would be in keeping with Samsung’s original promise. Speaking of which, industry sources claim that Samsung will also release One UI 5.0 for the Z Fold4, Z Flip4 and the Galaxy S21 family before the end of 2022. Together with the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Z Fold4, and Galaxy Z Flip4. Also likely the Galaxy A53.
