Sony Xperia 10 V packs a bigger main sensor, even lighter body

Along with its flagship 1 V model, Sony just announced its latest midranger – the Xperia 10 V. It is the world’s lightest 5,000 mAh smartphone currently on the market. Sitting at 159 grams, the handset is actually a couple of grams lighter than its predecessor.

The Sony Xperia 10 V retains the Snapdragon 695 chipset as well as the 6GB/128GB memory combo of thr Xperia 10 IV. Storage can still be expanded with microSD cards.

The 1080p OLED display is still 6.1″ in diagonal, but Sony says it’s 1.5x brighter than before. It only refreshes at 60Hz, though, which is somewhat disappointing in 2023. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, but the back and the frame, are still plastic to achieve the 159 gram weight.

The other notable upgrade is the main camera. The Xperia 10 V comes with a 48MP 1/2.0″ sensor with 0.8µm pixels and f/1.8 lens with optical image stabilization. Alongside it sits 8MP telephoto and ultrawide duo, both with f/2.2 aperture. The telephoto’s reach is 2x, while the ultrawide is marketed with 120-degree FoV. It’s nice to see the telephoto still around, as it’s one of the phone’s standout features in the mid-range segment. The selfie camera is another 8MP unit.

The Xperia 10 V draws power from a 5,000 mAh battery, which is promised to retain at least 80% capacity after three years. The charging speed isn’t disclosed, but we would bet it’s still 21W over Power Delivery.

Other notable features include IP65/68 water and dust resistance, 3.5mm audio jack with Hi-Res audio support, and a set of front-facing stereo speakers.
