Some online Surface orders might ship earlier than expected (Updated)
Updated October 2, 2019: Turns out the previous shipping dates were a little too good to be true. Microsoft is now sending out email notifications that correct the shipping date to November 5. The original story follows.
If you were planning on preordering a Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop 3, or Surface Pro 7 today, there’s a small chance you might have it delivered a little earlier than expected. Currently, some Surface Pro X preorders, along with the device’s accompanying accessories, are showing a shipping date of October 22. That’s two weeks earlier than the November 5 launch date Microsoft announced on stage and on its website.
We ordered the Surface Pro X, along with its accessories, and spotted the unusual shipping date shift.
It’s certainly possible this is just a slight mixup on Microsoft’s part. October 22 is the launch date for the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7, so there could be something going haywire in the estimate (which wouldn’t be uncommon for preorder days). It’s also unclear if Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3 buyers are seeing earlier-than-expected shipping dates at the moment.
Still, if you were planning to preorder a Surface Pro X and want it as soon as possible, now looks like a good time to do so.
