September 2022 security update rolling out to Galaxy S22 series

Samsung has released the September 2022 security update to the Galaxy S22 series. Being its flagship phone, one would think that the Galaxy S22 would be the first phone to get the update. However, the new security patch was first released to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy Note 20, and even the Galaxy A52s.

The latest security update for the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ comes with firmware version S90xBXXS2AVHD. The Galaxy S22 Ultra gets its firmware version bumped up to S908BXXU2AVI3. The update, which is available in Europe, fixes over two dozen privacy and security vulnerabilities, including the one that allowed a hacker to remotely make emergency calls. The update has a download size of around 200MB, and no new user-facing features are included in the update.

If you are a Galaxy S22 series user in Europe, you can download the update on your device by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. If you don’t want to wait, you can download the new firmware from our database and flash it manually. Don’t forget to back up the personal data on your phone, though.

Samsung could release the new update in other countries within a matter of days. The carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy S22 series might get the update a few days late compared to unlocked models. Have you received the update on your Galaxy S22 phone? Let us know in the comments section below.
