Save $100 and start gaming with the new HP Omen 27-inch FreeSync monitor

Best Buy has the HP Omen 27i 27-inch IPS gaming monitor on sale for $399.99. This is a brand new monitor that isn’t available in a lot of other places yet, but it’s still going for $500 through the HP store. Today’s deal is probably the first discount ever on the screen, too.

Let’s play

HP Omen 27-inch IPS FreeSync gaming monitor

The monitor has 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a 1ms repsonse time, and a 144Hz refresh rate that can overclock to 165Hz. Has AMD FreeSync by default but is also Nvidia G-Sync compatible. Has HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB 3.0 inputs.

$399.99 $500.00 $100 off

The monitor only first became available in early May, so it’s actually kind of nuts to see it going on sale for $100 off so quickly.

The screen’s specifications include 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, a 1 ms response time, and a 144Hz refresh rate that can be overclocked to 165Hz. The 1ms response time is especially impressive because the monitor is using an IPS panel, which usually results in response times closer to 5ms or more. So not only do you get an amazing time, you also get extremely accurate colors and 178-degree horizontal and vertical viewing angles. The combination of all those features is made possible by Nano IPS technology, something we’re only just starting to see in monitors this year. LG made a splash with this model that offered similar specifications but has had trouble staying in stock.

The adaptive sync on this screen starts with AMD FreeSync by default, but it is G-Sync compatible. If you’re running a Nvidia graphics card in the 10xx or 20xx series, you can activate G-Sync by connecting through the DisplayPort input. Not only can you reduce screen tearing while gaming, but the DisplayPort will let you get that 165Hz refresh rate, too.

Connectivity options include one DIsplayPort version 1.2, one HDMI port, and two USB-A 3.0 ports. The monitor also has adjustable ambient lighting, a dynamic contrast ratio, and 350 nits of brightness.

There are no built-in speakers, but there is a headphone jack for getting your audio that way. HP covers the 27i with a one-year warranty.
