Samsung’s World Expo 2030 ad in Switzerland targets 2,700 leaders and top officials

Samsung’s efforts to bring World Expo 2030 to Busan, South Korea, have not ended. And in its latest bid to host the upcoming Expo, the company installed a large digital outdoor advertisement in Davos, Switzerland, right around the celebration of the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, held between January 16 and the 20th

Samsung strategically installed the outdoor ad with messages of support for Busan World Expo 2030 at the right place and time so that roughly 2,700 leaders and top officials from 52 countries see it. The company installed the digital outdoor ad on the main street of Davos, Bahnhofstrasse.

Samsung Electronics really wants to host World Expo 2030 in Busan

Last year, the company installed digital ads in 23 locations across Busan and sought support from Vietnam’s Prime Minister, the President of Mexico, the President of Panama, and other officials.

Samsung Electronics, and more specifically the city of Busan, compete with Rome (Italy), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), and Odessa (Ukraine), although the latter location remains the most uncertain due to the ongoing conflict with Russia. Moscow was also among the proposed locations for World Expo 2030 before Russia withdrew in May 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine.

The International Bureau of Expositions will elect the host country for World Expo 2030 before the end of 2023. But the next World Expo will actually take place in 2025 in Osaka, Japan.
