Samsung’s next flagship smartwatch will have even bigger display
Samsung’s flagship smartwatches have used the same-sized displays over the past three years or so. The Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro all have 1.4-inch circular displays on their biggest versions. With its next flagship smartwatch, Samsung is planning to go bigger.
According to a tweet from leakster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will sport a 1.47-inch screen. That’s 0.7 inches bigger than its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Moreover, the leakster claims that Samsung has also improved the resolution of the smartwatch to keep the visuals sharp. While he didn’t reveal the resolution of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartwatch, it will be bigger than 450 x 450 pixels.
Previous reports have revealed that Samsung is working on a blood glucose monitor, but it isn’t clear if the company would be able to deliver it with the Galaxy Watch 6 series. The company’s 2023 lineup of smartwatches would include two models: Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. They will run Wear OS-based One UI Watch software. The upcoming smartwatches are expected to feature curved screens, unlike the Galaxy Watch 5.
Galaxy Watch 6 specifications
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which will succeed the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, will have a rotating bezel, a feature that many people love. Samsung will reportedly use OLED panels for both models from a Chinese firm. Both Galaxy Watch 6 models have similar-sized batteries, hovering around the capacity of the Galaxy Watch 5. So, don’t expect any major improvement in the battery life.
The other features that we can expect from the Galaxy Watch 6 series include an accelerometer, barometer, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, GPS, gyro, heart rate sensor, magnetic sensor, sleep tracking, and stress measurement. The watches in the lineup are also expected to feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, LTE (in some models), Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Samsung Pay, and wireless charging.
