Samsung’s four-year-old mid-range phone is getting a new security update

The Galaxy A8 (2018), which was launched four years ago, has received a new software update. Samsung has released a new security patch to the mid-range smartphone in a few markets.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A8 (2018) has firmware version A530FXXULCVB1, and it is rolling out in Colombia. More Latin American markets could get the update within the next few days. The update could also be released in other parts of the world sooner than later.

The January 2022 security patch fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. The update could also include device stability improvements and general bug fixes.

If you are a Galaxy A8 (2018) user in Colombia, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
