Samsung’s customer support service implements Sign Language Support

Samsung UK announced today a new addition to its Customer Support service, created for deaf or hard-of-hearing customers. The company has teamed up with SignVideo to better serve BSL (British Sign Language) users in the UK. Sign Language Support is now live at Samsung and available for customers every day between 8 AM and 10 PM.

The Sign Language Support service can be accessed by customers who are looking for information on Samsung Galaxy smartphones, TVs, and home appliances. The Korean tech giant’s product portfolio is vast, so the introduction of this new service should be of great help to BSL users who are unfamiliar with the company’s products or want to make an informed purchase decision. According to data from SignVideo, one in seven people in the UK suffer from some form of hearing loss.

The BSL service is now live on Samsung UK’s contact and accessibility webpage. Alternatively, customers can download the SignVideo app and get in touch with a registered BSL interpreter. A webcam is required for two-way communication, of course. Likewise, the service requires a minimum internet speed of 2mbps upload/download. SignVideo can be used on Windows PCs and Apple Macs, Android phones, iOS devices, and of course, the web interface linked above.

In its recent announcement, Samsung said it’s “committed to providing comprehensive accessibility features” and it plans on expanding its offer further next year.
