Samsung’s 2022 MicroLED TVs come in more sizes, offer improved performance

Ahead of CES 2022, Samsung has unveiled its 2022 lineup of TVs and monitors. The company’s new TV lineup consists of new MicroLED TVs, Neo QLED TVs (MiniLED), and lifestyle TVs. The South Korean firm’s new MicroLED TVs come in more sizes and offer improved picture quality and audio performance.

The new MicroLED TVs are now available in 89-inch, 101-inch, and 110-inch variants. These models feature 4K displays with up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung says that each of the 25 million micrometer-sized LEDs used in its new MicroLED TVs can produce its own color and light, offering perfect blacks, impressive colors, and high brightness levels.

The TVs now offer 20-bit greyscale depth, which means they can reproduce colors more accurately and offer 1 million steps of brightness and color levels. They cover 100% DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB color gamuts to deliver lifelike colors. Thanks to high brightness, 100% color volume, and perfect blacks, Samsung’s new MicroLED TVs offer incredible HDR performance.

These new MicroLED TVs also feature top, bottom, and side-mounted speakers. Samsung has also added Dolby Atmos to its new TVs, which offer immersive audio combined with multi-channel speakers.

On the software side of things, these TVs run a new version of Samsung’s Tizen OS that offers content recommendation, plenty of apps, and even cloud gaming features. The company has baked in Google Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Utomik cloud gaming services. Users can watch content with their friends on the video call using the Watch Together feature.

There is also a screen calibration tool that can improve image quality even further. The Basic Mode takes just 30 seconds, while the Professional Mode takes 10 minutes of your time for calibration. The South Korean firm has also added a brand-new NFT platform to its 2022 smart TV lineup, and people can use it to find, purchase, and trade digital artworks.

Samsung hasn’t revealed their pricing, but they will most likely be extremely expensive, owing to new display technology and large screen sizes. The launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect these TVs to go on sale in important markets before the end of this quarter.
