Samsung starts teasing the Galaxy M42 in India, price leaked

After launching the Galaxy F02s, Galaxy F12, and the Galaxy M12 in India, Samsung is ready for the launch of one more mid-range smartphone: Galaxy M42. It could become the first 5G smartphone in the Galaxy M series. The phone received various certifications over the past few weeks, inching closer to the launch. Now, the company has finally started teasing the phone, and another report has tipped its expected price range.

Multiple YouTubers from India have started publishing a teaser video of the Galaxy M42 on Twitter. The teaser video mentions #FastestMonster and 5G connectivity, and the tweets contain the #GalaxyM42 hashtag. The Galaxy M42 5G is expected to be a rebranded Galaxy A42 5G for the Indian market. It might share a lot of its specifications with the Galaxy A42 5G, except for the battery capacity. Galaxy M series smartphones are generally known for using higher capacity batteries when compared to the Galaxy A series, so we can expect the Galaxy M42 to feature a 6,000mAh (or bigger) battery.

Galaxy M42 5G expected specs, pricing

IANS has independently reported that Samsung will price the Galaxy M42 anywhere between INR 20,000 (around $266) and INR 25,000 (around $333). The phone is expected to feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display, similar to the Galaxy A42 5G. However, there are chances of Samsung throwing in a higher-refresh-rate panel with the device, similar to what it did with the Galaxy M12. It could feature a 20MP selfie camera and a 48MP rear-facing quad-camera setup. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 750G processor, in combination with 6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a microSD card slot.

The Galaxy M42 5G could also debut with Android 11-based One UI 3.1 out of the box. It could be a dual-SIM device with 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC connectivity. It could also feature a headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, an in-display optical fingerprint reader, and 15W fast charging. The phone will compete with the likes of the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, Realme X7, and the Mi 10i in India.
